Read MoreNew Rules – Loft Installations for Battery Storage Systems
In a significant update to installation practices, the recently released PAS 63100:2024 standard has introduced critical changes regarding the permissible locations for battery storage systems. This new regulation explicitly prohibits the installation of batteries in the following areas:
- Lofts
- Voids
- Roof spaces
- Combustible enclosures
- Wall cavities
- Escape routes
- Under stairs
- Bathrooms
- Shower rooms
- Kitchens
- Bedrooms
The rationale behind this change is primarily driven by safety concerns. These locations often present challenges in terms of ventilation, access, and fire safety. By eliminating these as potential installation sites, the new standard aims to enhance the overall safety and reliability of battery storage systems in residential and commercial properties.
McConnells Green carefully assess the location for batteries to ensure optimum safety and performance. Solutions range from installation outside utilising an IP65 Enclosure to garage or utility room installations.
